THE ART OF INNOVATION AT THE SCIENCE MUSEUM

We recently were commisioned by the Science Museum to frame a restored painting by James Nasmyth for their exhibition, The Art of Innovation.

The artwork measured 2m x 2m and required a custom made box frame and Musuem Glass which was assembled on-site at their facility in Wroughton, Wiltshire.

Visitors can see the monumental painting by James Nasmyth of the Moon, created from hundreds of observations, which is on public display for the first time since the Great Exhibition of 1851 where it attracted the attention of Prince Albert and Queen Victoria. Nasmyth used artistic tools and new techniques, including plaster models and photography, to create ground-breaking images that changed how scientists saw the Moon but also raised questions about truth in science and art.
