Gesso and paintLayers of white gesso is applied then sanded to leave a smooth surface covering the entire profile, welding and hiding the mitred joints. Emulsion paints are then layered to suit your painting and protected with a neutral wax. |

Lime Wax
To tone down the warmth of natural woods we use a Liming wax. Applied in either white or grey, colour temperatures can match the artwork. By painting the sight edge you can create a dramatic finish which is fairly inexpensive. |

Gilded BoxThis box is best for oils on deep stretcher bars which would stick out the back of most profiles. This method uses a subframe to hold the canvas flush with the top of the box with a 1/4 inch gutter around the edge of the canvas. |
Gilded small profileSuitable for small oils on board, this is a 1 inch swept moulding, a beaded sight edge and convex face. Layers of gesso are applied then coated with a coloured bole to leave a smooth surface to which the gold leaf is applied. The gold can be distressed to match the period of the painting. |

Painted Box
Colours taken from the Farrow & Ball range are painted directly onto the wood and sealed with a natural wax. The grain can be seen through the paint. Ideal for matching discontinued frames at an inexpensive price. |
